for the first time in a while, i feel like i’m slowing down. I’m working hard but i’m also taking breaks without feeling guilty about it.
i’m no longer in this epic race against myself to do more than the day before. i’m working WITH myself now - to be good. calm, yet energized.
i’m learning to have as much compassion for myself and my needs as i do others. recently, i focused less on ‘balancing’ my energy and rather, just allowed myself to sit in all the feelings. sometimes, you can work so hard at being “balanced” and “relaxed” that you actually just spent most of your time feeling anxious that you’re not balanced and relaxed enough. sometimes you can work so hard to live a healthy lifestyle, that you actually cross into an unhealthy territory.
i think that happens to the majority of us, no? we start to obsess about bettering ourselves and our lifestyle that we begin to lose focus on the things that actually gets us to that place.
for me, balance and health is found in so many ways. it’s laughing at stupid jokes. it’s having morning sex before i start my morning routine. it’s a second cup of coffee at four pm. it’s fitting in time for exercise. its sometimes saying no to plans and staying in. its carbs and snacks and sometimes a little cbd. its waking up a little earlier and enjoying coffee with sleepy eyes. it’s also working really hard, achieving goals, and nights thinking about my next projects. but most importantly its about acknowledging how HARD true balance is to achieve and having compassion for myself in the process⚖️.
