It’s funny... I’ve had so many people lately tell me how amazing my travels look and how they wish they could travel as much as I do... and for some reason my answer is always about how much I miss being home... I don’t want to sounds ungrateful (because I’m definitely extraordinarily grateful for the opportunities that have come my way this year) but this whole “influencer” thing was never a part of my plan and truth be told I’m struggling to find my sense of purpose in it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In the last few months I’ve had a lot of time to think about what I really want and what’s important to me... and I keep coming back to community and contribution. It was sooo easy to have a sense of purpose when teaching yoga was my full-time job... but the amount I was teaching to afford living in Aspen was unsustainable... that feeling of burn out was what lead me to starting my health business 2 years ago... And I think the most fulfilled I’ve ever felt was the first 10 months of growing that business... the hard work I was putting in... the skills I was learning... the freedom I was creation for myself and others... and, more than anything, the community I became a part of.

A lot of bright and shiny distractions have come my way this year... and my health business/love of teaching yoga has gotten put on the back burner... but I’m sooo ready to rediscover that sense of purpose I once had. You know on your maps app when you take a wrong turn and it reroutes you? That me right now. Rerouting.

Note- this photo is a few years old from before they put up the ropes at Maroon Lake. Make sure you always respect signs and fences in wilderness areas!!.

A little bit of snow won’t stop me from summiting a mountain 🏔❄️ The key is to have the right gear. Ask me anything about my favourite items I bring on hikes👇🏼 . 📸 @joshmcca.

Woke up feeling so so grateful ✨ like heart-bursting happy, filled to the brim with joy. Not every day feels that way and there are seasons for everything — but I have experienced in a real way that the lows in life make you appreciate the highs with your whole heart. The gratitude runs deeper than it ever could without the heavy-hearted days. If you are in a beautiful season of life, celebrate that! If you’re not, hang in there + remember the sun will come up ☀︎ it will get better I promise. XOXO .

🥾 HIKE REVIEW — Brainard/Long Lakes 🥾
Today my main hiking squeeze + I hit the road towards Indian Peaks Wilderness area to get some quality hiking in 🤗 Due to some road closures, we ended up doing a slightly different hike than anticipated but it ended up being amazing!
.
.
. ⇻ Trail : Brainard Lake to Long Lake just 1.5 hours from Denver 🚘 Park at the main Brainard Lake trailhead (large parking lot w/ restrooms) and head towards Brainard Lake. It’s about 3 miles to get there. After that you’ll head right FIRST then keep left once you reach a fork in the road + follow the road until you get to the trailhead (about another half mile from Brainard Lake) that takes you to towards Long Lake. From that point it’s a half mile to Long Lake .
.
. ⇻ Distance : 8 miles total ⇄ Out + back trail .
.
.
. ⇻ Terrain : Very rolling, without much elevation gain ↗︎ Much of the trail is wooded except for the lakes which are in open spaces with gorgeous mountain backdrops. Truly we were stunned by the views once the trail would open up to reveal the peaks around us. The trail was still completely free of ice. I would say you could probably do this hike without hiking boots if needed and in regular gym shoes
.
.
⇻ Make a day of hike : Boulder and Nederland are your closest towns to hit up for post-hike food/bevs. We opted for a late lunch in the little town of Nederland at Busey Brews 🍔 Boulder will have more restaurant options and shopping if you want to spend a little more time.
.
.
⭐️ Overall I’d give this one 5 stars! It was a beautiful trail with so much to see and doable for many ability levels. If you want a shorter hike, turn back at Brainard Lake. If you want a longer hike, continue on from Long Lake to Lake Isabelle (an extra 5 miles total). GO DO THIS HIKE FRIENDS 😘😘😘 .

Coming home after a week spent in New England, where I saw the most incredible fall colours to date. It completely surpassed my expectations, and every where we went was just filled with different shades of reds, oranges, and yellows. Can’t wait to be back next year💛

Day 2 Evening: Bishop Vacation

I knew that I was still angry. I could tell that I was looking for any way to pick a fight even though It was obvious that he was trying so hard to get along. I just was holding on to my pain, but at the same time gritting my teeth and biting my tongue when a smart remark wanted to escape my mouth. I didn’t need a repeat of the night prior so I’d wander off by myself a bit. Not far, but he’d leave me alone, even though he asked me to accompany him fishing. He’d be watching too, my reaction, my expression, my behavior. I wonder what went on in his head at the time—was he also wrestling with his anger, and allowing love to win instead? He was doing a much better job than me for sure if that was the case. Cus those steaks he cooked over the fire that night were fire. Paired with the ramen bomb and eating it in the dark inside his car, was just what I needed to remember our relationship was much like any adventure, ups and downs. I just had to see it through. #thegnomadheart.
