Today I started to build my very first React app. It is a simple social card and the goal is to learn how to use components and to render lists with fake data.
It is not done yet but you can see it on my github. The link is in de bio. 🀩.

Happy Sunday Devs! I can’t believe its been over a week since I posted. The week was busy but nothing overwhelming. Working on UAT test scripts for my database migrations at work. I was mostly working on my side projects after work, so not too much JS this week. I did finish up the tutorials on let and const, and passed the test on Template literals, although I don’t feel I fully grasped the concept so before I move into basic arrow syntax I’ll review those sections again. .
.
Friday was fun because I spent half the day volunteering at the CT Humane Society. Was difficult not to bring home any pups, but I was responsible 🐢 πŸ˜‰. It’s a great organization, everything is very clean and they take amazing care of their animals. .
.
Right now I’m on my friends boat heading out to do some fishing. Hopefully we come back with a few black fish for dinner. As I mentioned on @codernist post from today. I’m working on trying to get myself up earlier in the mornings. Since I started my new job I wake up about an hour before I should leave for work. It’s way too much rushing and I am usually late. My goal is to give myself about 2 1/2 hours in the morning. If it works this week I’ll post my routine. Fingers crossed 🀞🏼. .

How I’m feeling this Friday finally getting to share with you all what I have been working on! I am going to be releasing an eBook coming up which you can think of as your mentor/best friend/handbook for assisting you and guiding you through your coding journey. I get so many incredible questions that I wanted to compile the most popular ones and write a book on them for you! -
-
On this note, I am going to include a page at the end of advice others would give for people learning how to code. What advice would you give!? I will try and include it! πŸ˜„πŸ’‘πŸ’».

Happy Saturday Devs!
This week was very productive in terms of client work and side projects. We finalized designs on my side app project, and will be moving into development next week. I am IN LOVE with the way this app looks and I cant wait to show it to you. We also had a successful demo and shareholders meeting for my SaaS platform. Hopefully both will be launched in beta before the end of the year. 🀞🏼

Yesterday was a really fun and busy day at the office. I worked from home Wednesday and Thursday, and got so much work done for the client I am on, that I was able to attend some really great meetings and workshops all Friday morning at our office in downtown Hartford. .
.
We had our October SOTO (State of the Office), which is always great information and insight into how the company is doing financially and operationally. After that was our regular daily project standup. Then I had a meeting to kick off the Women in Technology Hartford chapter of which I will be a board member (being excited about this is an understatement!). Our General Manager attended the meeting and we all shared with him our stories of how we got into technology, what the WIT organization means to us, and why we want to be a part of it (thumbs up πŸ‘πŸΌ in the comments if you want me to share what I said).
.
.
The last event I attended before getting back to client work for the day was a lunch ’n learn on DevOps. DevOps is a topic that I have been very interested in because its what I kind of always did without really knowing it. It was cool, though, to see the actual technology that is out there to help establish DevOps as a practice rather than just an idea or a thing that is done. It was super informative, insightful and I learned a lot. .

What was your first job? I love looking back how being open to new opportunities and believing in yourself, how much you can grow in unexpected ways. πŸ’‘ For me my first job was going construction for my dads construction company when I was in high school. I would go around picking up any pieces of wood left behind or any odds and ends that needed to be done. It taught me so much hard word ethic..
