One of the most embarrassing moments of my life: A work story. 😂
In my 20’s I worked as an SCI recovery specialist.
Basically, we were highly specialized trainers for people with paralysis, and clients literally came from all over the world for our methods.
I had a young male client from Japan for several months and he came with a full squad: his parents, a couple friends, a caretaker, a trainer and a translator. I was in charge of teaching his trainer how to work with him back home in Japan.
In the first few sessions, I was trying to learn some Japanese so I could speak directly to them.
So I was asking the translator how to say a bunch of words like push, pull, bend, press, squeeze, etc.
At some point, I was attempting to say something to the client and they all burst into a roar of laughter and their faces turned bright red and I thought
oh no 🤦🏼♀️. What did I say?
After the translator finally pulled himself together (like 5 minutes later), he told me that I’d actually said: “PUSH HARDER, I’M COMING”.
